Topographic Study

Bangladesh Solar Power Plant

Project Details

The proposed project involves development and subsequent operation of utility scale solar power plant at Kushtia, Bangladesh (“Project”). As part of the Project, a transmission line shall be constructed from the proprietary substation at the power plant to the nearest main substation (132 kV Kushtia) located at Kushtia District. The interconnection substation belongs to PGCB and is located at the south of Kushtia city.

EQMS Consulting Limited has been assigned by TÉCNICA Y PROYECTOS SA (TYPSA) to conduct a land survey for the alternative transmission line from the proposed solar power plant to the Kushtia 132/33 KV Grid Substation. The purpose the survey is to assess the existing land condition including mouza plot identification, land value determination for the mouza plots, compensation calculation for the alternative transmission line and determination of the suitable options for transmission line from solar power plant to the substation. Also, identification of the sensitive issues and risks for the proposed project is another major issue for the project.

There are four alternative transmission lines have proposed from solar power plant to substation having a range of 5.9-14 km length. There are two types of transmission lines that has been considered as the options such as underground and overhead. The Right of Way (ROW) for the underground segment has been considered as 50-meter-wide corridor where for overhead segment it has been considered as 100-meter-wide corridor.

The interconnection line shall be single circuit and could be either aerial or buried. The overhead lines will be installed on metallic towers supported by concrete embedded foundations with distance between towers from 200 to 300 meters. The buried lines will be in trenches of 2 meters wide and 1 meter deep. The voltage level will be 132 kV. The transmission line will be developed and executed by a private developer and then transferred to PGCB.
